The NBA's most colourful and stylish sideline reporter, Craig Sager covers the latest issue of Sports Illustrated. Known for his bold, bright and standout looks the weatherman turned sports reporter is always seen throughout the NBA season in bold threads.
Recently the 64-year-old spoke with the magazine to chat about his style and prep for the NBA Playoffs saying,
“It’s the playoffs. I have to step it up—in terms of the bling.” .
Right now he's battling a two-year fight with leukemia and typically needs two transfusions a week, but that hasn't stopped the Illinois-native from leaving his mark on the game. In support of Sager's battle, reporters are paying homage to him and his bold fashion by sporting Sager-inspired looks featuring bold pattern jackets and bright colours. Plus throughout arenas you can see #SagerStrong signs and players have been showing their support too.
Not everyone was always a fan of Sager's bold fashion choices. Former NBA commissioner David Stern once said, "“I put in a dress code for the players, but I should have put one in for the broadcasters too." Clearly that didn't happen because over the past years Sager's suits, ties, handkerchiefs. cufflinks have been hitting NBA sidelines garnering tons of attention.
He's become a staple to the game and there is even a tumblr dedicated to Sager's swag.
