Style Profile: Athletes at the 2016 Met Gala

The first Monday in May, really doesn't mean much to anyone except for fashion lovers. Last night celebs, fashion models and athletes took over NYC  at the 2016 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit aka Met Gala or Ball. The super exclusive invite-only party is a celebration of fashion and marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit.

This year's exhibit celebrates the opening of the Manus x Machina exhibition: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Celebs dawned cutting-edge fashion looks to show off couture and technology all-in-one. Many looks were hand-created and the machine-made.

Check out some of the world's top athletes who made an appearance. 

Carmelo Anthony
Hitting the red carpet with his wife, Lala, New York Knick Carmelo Anthony looked so sophisticated in a custom suit by Public School. We bet he didn't have to start getting ready at 5am like his wife. 

Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez
The New York Yankee legends attended the gala in pretty similar looks; black tuxedos and matching bow ties. Classic look for any big occasion.

Attending her first Met Gala, the tennis pro looked stunning in an all-red gown by Juan Carlos Obando.
